What people are saying about GOfit

I first went to seek physical therapy to help me cope with an achilles injury that I have had for over a year. A close friend of mine recommended Kyle to me and I find that word of mouth recommendations go a long way. My friend had a very positive experience when working with Kyle and Cara so I felt that it would work for me as well. I have benefited greatly from working with Kyle the past 3 months on an injury that kept me sidelined for almost a year and now I can train freely and aggressively toward my goal in winning an Olympic Gold medal in Tokyo. My experience has been nothing but amazing, Kyle has been diligent in treating my injury as well as fixing other issues that may have led to the injury in the first place. Throughout the week we are in constant communication to ensure that I continue to feel great and to see if there is anything more GOfit PT can do for me. I would 100% recommend GOfit Physical Therapy to anyone that wants and needs hands-on attention coming from some of the most knowledgeable Physical Therapists. Thanks GOfit PT!

Kyle has been nothing short of amazing and accommodating. I was in America visiting my boyfriend, training, and competing in track and field. During this time, I realized I needed to keep my body in check and see a physical therapist. That’s when I was referred to Kyle at GOfit PT. He helped treat my achilles and hips, and prepared me for my first race (800m) in Los Angeles where I ended up running my fastest season opener of my career! Kyle is punctual, intelligent and innovative. I learned new exercises that I can now take back with me to Australia and continue doing to further improve my movement. Overall from start to finish, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Kyle and trust him and his work. When I am back in America, I will definitely be visiting Kyle and GOfit PT

I originally started working with Cara 2 years ago after a snowboarding injury to my shoulder. I got lucky that we crossed paths because I was looking for someone who was familiar with hypermobility, had the experience/expertise to perform dry needling, and most importantly, took the time to work with me for the ENTIRE session. Many physical therapists don’t have time to work with you and, per regulations, must hand you off to a tech who has way less experience. As a person with hypermobility, my joint issues can be complicated and are always in need of help which is why I chose to work with Cara. She spends the entire hour working on whatever I need during any given session which may include dry needling, neuromuscular re-education, massage, taping etc... I love working with Cara at GOfit because I not only see and feel the benefits of our sessions, but I’ve developed a connection with someone who is clearly passionate about her job, highly skilled in her profession, thinks outside the box, goes the extra mile to make sure her clients feel better and gives them accessible tools to apply when at home, traveling or at work. I highly recommend working with Cara if you want a holistic approach towards decreasing pain, improving performance or just feeling better overall. To be honest, I don’t know what I would do without her!!!

Blessings on blessings. First, let me start by saying THANK YOU, KYLE! In 2019, I ruptured my achilles & had to have surgery and undergo months of PT. I finally got back to exercising and playing basketball and then I injured my hamstring. These injuries back to back made me lose hope on doing anything athletically. My doctor recommended dry needling and PT. After days of research, I came across GOfit and saw multiple 5-star reviews. My first time meeting with Kyle, he evaluated my entire body—not just what was bothering me so he could get a full idea of what the problem was. I was so weak at the time. He gave me strengthening exercises to do in between dry needling sessions. I visited 2 weeks later and after the 2nd session, I remember thinking, “Wow, the tightness is really improving.” Each time I visited, I noticed significant improvement and felt myself getting healthier. Kyle had me on a return-to-sports protocol because he knew how much I loved to play basketball, being a former collegiate hooper. Not only was Kyle extremely knowledgeable about the human body, he made me feel so comfortable. His good vibes and positive energy made the entire process fun. I recently played ball in an event and because of Kyle, I got the W… I’m back to moving around how I was prior to my injuries all thanks to him. I’d highly recommend him to anyone with a sports injury!! Thank you!!!

I had 2 hip arthroscopic surgeries my senior year and just after graduation from the Naval Academy. In order to successfully complete BUD/s (SEAL training) I needed to quickly return to full function. With the help of Cara and Kyle I got back to my old self and was able to get through training without any hip issues. Without their expertise I don’t think I would have returned to and gotten through training pain-free. I recommend their services to anyone trying to recover from a surgery or just trying to live a pain-free life. Their caring and professionalism allowed me to achieve my dreams and I can’t thank them enough!

As a recreational triathlete, I initially sought out a physical therapist for some running related injuries. I had heard of GOfit PT from another physician who highly recommended their services. When first meeting Kyle I was very impressed with the thorough and systematic history he took in regard to my activities and injury. When he examined and treated me it was obvious he had a great knowledge of anatomy. I initially saw him for an IT band issue and have since seen him for other issues including shoulder, piriformis, and lower back issues. I love how he really tries to seek the root cause of the problem to figure out how it happened and prescribing treatment that not only fixes the problem but aims to prevent it from recurring in the future. His manual therapy skills are impressive and I have had great results with his treatments and follow up exercises. I can’t recommend him enough for anyone, especially people looking to get back to their sports and activities quickly.

I lead a very active lifestyle, enjoy exercising to maintain health and as a hobby and sought out physical therapy to help me return to the level of fitness I desired. I suffered a hip injury while working out and wasn’t able to walk comfortably let alone squat or deadlift! I began seeing a physical therapist who felt I would be better served by Cara and the rest is history!

After my FIRST session with Cara I could comfortably walk and did not have constant pain. She introduced me to dry needling and while painful at first, the results are amazing. Cara made me feel comfortable about trying a new intervention technique and moved ahead at my speed. Within months we had moved on to address all of my ailments to include tendinitis, deltoid pain and relearning proper exercise techniques to avoid future injury.

When I reached my “graduation” I was so sad and begged her to keep seeing me!

Since then I have returned to Cara multiple times. Once pregnant, I was in constant pain and Cara again came to my rescue! She allowed me to not only maintain mobility and limit pain through my pregnancy but helped me maintain a safe exercise program right up until delivery!

After delivery, I again needed her help. I could not comfortably sit due to tight hip flexors and glutes and again within one session, that issue was addressed! We then worked on exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor and abs. Cara went over my workout routines with me to ensure I did not engage in any exercise that could potentially put me at risk for prolapse or harm my weak core.

If it is not evident, I can not recommend Cara enough! She is AMAZING and I know without her I would not have been able to continue to live my life as well as I have these past three and a half years. If you are in any type of pain, especially if you are pregnant or post-partum, you need to see Cara!

I am a runner and was starting to train for the Chicago Marathon, a longtime dream! I began to have hip and knee pain - minor at first, but it quickly progressed to severe pain whenever I tried to run. I researched local PTs and found GOfit. They seemed interested in helping athletes and making personal connections, and I was very impressed with their credentials.

In the first session, Kyle put me at ease with his professionalism and expertise. He identified the cause of my pain and treated the localized painful areas with dry needling. More importantly, he gave me strengthening exercises to treat the underlying muscle weakness and keep me running in the long term. After a few sessions with Kyle I started running again, and I soon after resumed training. I ran a personal best time in the Marathon and know that wouldn’t have happened without Kyle’s help! He got to know me as an individual and understand my running ambitions, and together we formed a plan that would get me running again quickly but safely.

I would absolutely recommend GOfit physical therapy. The care they provide is both effective and personalized, which can be a rare combination in healthcare. Trusting Kyle with my rehab was the best decision I’ve made as a runner!

Recently I had been experiencing shoulder pain after an athletic injury. I contacted Cara Atwell from GOfit Physical Therapy and I cannot say enough amazing things about Cara and the practice she has with her husband.

*Cara was able to see me at a time and place that was convenient to my schedule.
*Cara gave me 1-on-1 treatment, providing me all of her attention for one hour sessions.
*I was blown away by the knowledge and experience Cara has, as well as, the kindness and care I received.
*I am now pain-free and the improvement from my sessions with her has allowed me to return to all of my activities (including my every-day profession: teaching dance in a high school).

I was also very pleased to learn that Cara has an extensive dance background, growing up dancing with the AA Co. school system and minoring in dance at UVA. This experience allowed her to better understand me as a dancer and what my profession requires of me.

I could not be more relieved to know that I can go to GOfit for any injuries or pain that I may experience in the future. Cara and her husband are extremely personable, knowledgable, and experienced. I highly recommend Cara and Kyle as physical therapists for any injuries or pain that you have.

Kyle is the best! I was in the middle of a marathon training cycle and had some Achilles pain come on suddenly making it so I couldn’t run. Naturally I freaked out and thought I wasn’t going to be able to run my race. I found Kyle through a quick search and thought he would be a good PT to see as his website specifically mentioned help for runners. I was able to get an appointment quickly and after a thorough evaluation, he provided me with some PT exercises, stretches and dry needling which all helped my pain. I saw him again during my training and he addressed hip pain that had popped up. Kyle gives his patients personal attention and treats according to that patient’s individual needs. He was a huge help in my training and I will definitely be back during my next training cycle!

I’m so grateful to have found Cara and GOFit PT! Physical therapy is a key part of my treatment plan for pain and injuries related to joint hypermobility, but common PT approaches to treat only one area of the body at a time and use half the appointment for me to do exercises in a gym on my own never worked well for me. I needed a PT who could spend more time with me for manual therapy as well as teach me exercises specifically for joint hypermobility, and who would look at my body holistically to help me improve my strength and function. Fortunately when I was looking for a new PT, someone else with joint hypermobility recommended Cara, and she’s exactly the kind of PT that I needed! Even though I’m only able to come in for appointments a few times a month, Cara has helped me to make great progress in improving my overall ability to function in my daily life and reducing my pain levels, and is always happy to assist with questions I have between appointments. The one-on-one treatment for a full hour with a PT at GOFit is truly invaluable for anyone who needs physical therapy, but especially for people like me who have more chronic conditions that affect multiple areas of the body. I highly recommend Cara and GOFit for all your physical therapy needs!

I have seen Kyle on and off over the last couple years for a few issues; strained neck, tweaked shoulder, and chronic shin splints. As an athlete who has been going hard for over a decade getting injured comes with the territory.

Kyle is not the first physical therapist I have ever seen, but he will definitely be the last, as he is now my go-to-guy for the next time I inevitably get hurt. What sets Kyle apart from the other physical therapists that I have seen is convenience and how he can relate to me.

Because Kyle is an out of network provider I don’t have to jump through hoops (go to my primary care physician three times just to hear what I already know) in order to see a physical therapist. If I’m hurt I can make an appointment with GoFit and get treated, it’s that easy.

What really sets Kyle apart from other physical therapists is that he is an athlete himself and understands the frustration that comes with having to take time off from training or not being able to go 100% because of an injury. When I was hurt Kyle knew that I was eager to get back to training and got me healthy quickly. He also provided me with techniques that I could incorporate into my training to strengthen those problem areas and ultimately prevent the injuries from reoccurring. If you are an athlete who is injured or someone who just wants to get back to doing something they love, Kyle is definitely the man to see!

I just feel compelled to express my appreciation for the exceptional care and treatment I received from Cara Atwell in which I’m sure all patients experience at GOfit PT. Following rotator cuff surgery and then again for pain issues in my lower back I came to Cara for physical therapy. Initially the thorough examination and continual monitoring of my range of motions relating to pain levels certainly was well beyond anything I anticipated. At every appointment she was always well versed with my issues and strengths, well really just weaknesses. She always took the time to explain things, ensuring that I understood how the body was working, how the body was healing, what was happening, what the exercises were doing, and what the correct form should have been. The patience that Cara exhibits when teaching me exercises is phenomenal, as I am not coordinated to say the least. She tailored exercises specifically for my issues and patiently worked with me (really patiently worked with me) until such time that I understood and could perform them properly. There were a variety of methods that she has utilized in my treatment depending on which factors were contributing to my issues each session. No question she always hones in on my issues and eliminated a lot of pain enabling me to work as well as participate in outdoor recreation. I work for myself and it often may require intense physical activity to be successful.

At GOfit how nice to find extremely competent professionals that actually care, follow through and treat you individually on a one-on-one basis. I’ve spoken with Kyle and definitely have the impression that treatment from him would be on par with that of Cara. I cannot be grateful enough for how generous Cara has been with her time. She follows up on appointments with emails to monitor my situation, encouraged me to email any questions, and spent whatever time was necessary in my treatment. There is no question that in addition to my shoulder and lower back, my overall health has improved as a benefit of seeing Cara as a GOfit patient. I highly recommend GOfit Physical Therapy.

BIG fan of Kyle and GOfit Physical Therapy! Would recommend to anyone. I feel so much better physically as a result of going here after just a few weeks.

Kyle listens, asks smart questions, and takes his time to diagnose all potential root causes. (side note: I’ve been to other places where I felt like I was just being churned through the system on 30-minute intervals.) In particular, have been going to Kyle for dry needling, and he is the best I’ve ever seen for this procedure.

As a former collegiate athlete and someone who is just trying to stay active and remain pain free in his 40s, I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

I first sought physical therapy for back pain related to scoliosis. Cara had been highly recommended to me by a good friend because of her extensive training and the depth of her experience. Working with Cara, I was able to reduce my back pain almost completely and gain back mobility and strength. Both her treatment and the exercise program she designed for my specific challenges made a significant difference. The results were far beyond those I had from working with other therapists and were completely worth my investment. Cara is a compassionate, kind and highly knowledgeable physical therapist. She listens carefully to my concerns and tailors her treatment to my own individual needs. I especially appreciate Cara’s skill and experience when I have a persistent challenge. She will work to find a way to address the problem until it is either resolved or on the way to improving. I wholeheartedly recommend Cara and GoFit Physical Therapy.

Cara treated my neck and did an amazing job!! I have recently been having a lot of stiffness and pain in my neck when I wake up in the morning. It really improved after Cara worked on it and I could not be happier!! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great Physical Therapist. She is also very kind and makes you feel very comfortable! I am very impressed with her and her husband Kyle’s knowledge and expertise in the field.

Kyle and Cara did a fantastic job of rehabilitating my wife’s ankle from a double break. After suffering from years of tightness and ITB issues after running I booked an appointment with Kyle. Within 2 weeks of treatment I was not feeling sore after running, which I had become accustomed to as the status quo, and was actually decreasing my times due to the treatment. Kyle worked carefully with me to prescribe manageable daily stretches that work with my lifestyle and I am still enjoying large improvements 10 weeks into the treatment. I am very happy with the results I have seen, love the personal treatment and I would recommend GOfit.

The bottom line of this review is that I think Kyle is awesome and can’t recommend him highly enough. But to give a sense of where that’s coming from, here’s a little background: When I was in my early 20’s, I started experiencing chronic pain in my hips. Over the course of 7 years, I saw several orthopedists, a physiatrist, and a rheumatologist and was given a different diagnosis by each. I also did at least five full courses of physical therapy. Although all the PTs I saw seemed competent and professional (and in fact I really liked several of them), the same thing would happen each time: I would see them for about 6 months (doing all exercises as prescribed) and would maybe experience a little bit of improvement, but overall not much would change. The PT would then say something along the lines of, “I’m really sorry. I don’t know what is going on for you. Things should be getting better with what we’re doing, but they’re not, and I don’t know why. I’ve exhausted every tool in my toolbox, so it doesn’t make sense for you to come see me anymore.” Over time, the activities I was able to do became more and more limited, eventually getting to the point where I couldn’t even walk a half mile without pain. Always having been pretty athletic, it was awful being so physically limited at such a young age. But what was even more upsetting was that no one seemed to understand why it was happening. I was starting to feel like maybe it was all in my head or something.

That was the space I was in when I started working with Kyle. From the get-go, he was different than other PTs that I’d worked with. He made it clear all along that he definitely believed there was something physically going on for me and that he would help me get to the bottom of it, regardless of how long it took. I also consistently felt like my care was individualized - it wasn’t based on what “should” work in a given situation; Kyle was actually responsive to and made adjustments based on what was and wasn’t working. When, a few months into working together, we hit a plateau, he responded differently than any other PT I’d worked with previously - rather than giving up and saying he couldn’t help me, he sought consultation from multiple colleagues. Together, they determined I had an underlying condition that was keeping typical techniques from working and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon who confirmed the diagnosis (one I hadn’t gotten before). About 9 and 7 months ago, respectively, I underwent surgery on each of my hips to correct the issue.

After the surgeries, I worked with Kyle in rehab 4+ hours a week for about 5 months, and I have to say, he made what could’ve been a miserable process both rewarding and fun. Interpersonally, he’s a great balance of warm and professional, with a really wonderful sense of humor. He’s extremely knowledgeable, but never talked down to me and was always willing to openly answer questions I had about what was going on with my body, why things might be feeling a certain way, etc. He was also incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the process. I felt like I had a cheerleader by my side the whole time, someone who really cared that I be able get back to doing the things I love. And that, by and large, has happened: I’m back to going to the gym several times a week, doing yoga here and there, and walking a mile and a half to and from work every day. Things aren’t 100% perfect with my hips, but they are *infinitely* better than they were pre-surgery, and they’re still improving all the time. So, as I’m sure is clear from this review, I’m incredibly grateful to Kyle and really, truly would recommend him to anyone!

p.s. While I haven’t worked directly with Cara, she was in the same practice where I saw Kyle, so I got to know her and observe her style a bit too. All of her clients seemed to love her, and even though I wasn’t her client, she always went out of her way to chat with me. She was super-warm and encouraging, and I have no doubt that she would be excellent to work with as well!
— Michele Crisafulli, Avid Hiker

Cara and Kyle demonstrate a level of genuine care that is rarely seen in the medical field. Their dedication to your health and comfort as a client goes far above any of the numerous PTs I’ve worked with. If you have pain or want to improve your performance, there is no way to quantify the value of their expertise and service. Could not recommend more highly!
— J.S, USMC

I have had various issues with my legs/feet and took PT at different places without luck until I met Kyle. By that time, he worked at another office, and I was impressed by all his knowledge and positive attitude towards my healing. Kyle really cares about you, your healing process and always goes the extra mile to make sure you feel better. Additionally, he listens to you carefully, which is one of the most important attributes when people’s health is in your hands. Every time I have had any issues, Kyle’s PT resolve it! That’s why the last time something happened with my ankle, and I discovered he wasn’t in his old office anymore, I felt very frustrated and hopeless. So I decided to search for him on the internet, and I found him!! Kyle now has his own PT facility, GOfit, which he runs with Cara. One of the most impressive things about his PT services is that he understands that to fix your specific problems, he first needs to assess the root of your problem, and to me, this makes complete sense since your body works as a whole. The last time I had PT with him, I felt so good the next day that I even told him it was like a miracle! That’s is how good their PT services are! I highly recommend GOfit Physical Therapy, and I assure, as their slogan says, you will “GET BETTER, FASTER.” Thanks, Kyle!!

I sought out physical therapy for help with a herniated lumbar disc injury. Cara and I clicked on the phone and she seemed enthusiastic about helping me get back to lifting weights, which was my main concern. From there I worked with Kyle, who was very knowledgeable about body movements and the dry needling procedures we were going to be doing. I was skeptical at first, but really felt some results after just the first visit. My muscles finally started to loosen up around my hips and lower back. Kyle was supportive and encouraging about getting me to stretch consistently. We worked together for 6 weeks were Kyle offered some great stretching routines tailored to my style and preference. Its had a lasting impact that has helped me steadily improve my mobility and core strength. I’m confident I will be lifting again safer and stronger than before thanks to my experience at GOfit physical therapy.
